The SPI 34-262-6 is a single-end Go plug thread gage designed to verify the minimum material condition of internal threads. Machined from steel and classified to the 6H tolerance class, this gage checks whether a 5/16-24 UNF threaded hole will accept a mating fastener within specification. It is traceable to NIST standards and meets ANSI requirements, making it suitable for quality control environments where documented traceability is required. The Go member confirms the thread form, pitch, and diameter fall within the acceptable lower limit. A size 1 handle is required for use but is not included with this gage.
This gage is used in manufacturing, machining, and assembly inspection applications wherever 5/16-24 UNF internal threads are produced or verified. Typical users include machinists, quality control inspectors, and tool-room technicians working with precision fastener applications in metal fabrication, aerospace components, and general mechanical assembly. Its single-end configuration keeps the Go member dedicated and unambiguous during inspection workflow.
Designed for use with standard size 1 plug gage handles. Fits 5/16-24 UNF internal thread inspection applications requiring 6H class Go verification per ANSI standards.
Plug thread gages are handled and used by machinists and quality technicians, not installed in a system. Before use, ensure the threaded workpiece is clean and free of chips, burrs, or coolant residue that could produce a false reading. Do not force the Go member through a thread; it should pass under the weight of the gage handle alone or with minimal hand pressure. Store the gage in a protective case away from other metal tools to prevent wear or damage to the thread form.
