The SPI 34-232-9 is a single-end Go plug thread gage designed to verify internal thread conformance for 8-32 unified coarse thread applications. Manufactured from steel, this gage checks that a tapped hole meets the minimum material condition, confirming threads are within tolerance before assembly. It carries a 6H classification, which is the standard tolerance class for general-purpose internal threads. The gage conforms to ANSI standards and includes NIST traceability certification, making it suitable for quality-control workflows that require documented calibration lineage. A size 0 handle is required for use but is not included with this gage.
This plug thread gage is used in machine shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance environments where threaded fastener integrity must be verified. The 8-32 thread size is common in light-duty mechanical assemblies, instrument panels, and enclosure hardware. Inspectors and machinists use Go gages as a pass criterion — if the gage enters the threaded hole freely, the hole meets the minimum thread specification. Thread plug gages are used by machinists and quality inspectors — no installation in the traditional sense applies, but proper handling is required to maintain gage accuracy. Store the gage in its protective case when not in use and keep it clean and lightly oiled to prevent corrosion. Never force the gage into a threaded hole; a Go gage should enter under its own weight or with light hand pressure only. Periodic recalibration against traceable standards is recommended to maintain measurement integrity.
