The SPI 34-223-8 is a single-end Go plug thread gage designed to verify the minimum material condition of internal 5-44 UNF threads. Machined from steel and classified to 6H tolerance, this gage confirms that a threaded hole accepts a mating fastener at the correct fit without binding. It is used at incoming inspection stations, on the shop floor, and in quality labs wherever small-diameter thread verification is required. The handle is not included and must be sourced separately in a Size 0 handle. NIST traceability documentation ships with the gage, supporting calibration records and audit requirements.
This gage applies to any operation involving 5-44 thread forms, which appear in precision instrumentation, small-bore fittings, electronics enclosures, and medical-device assemblies. The Go member checks that the thread is not undersize and that the pitch diameter falls within the acceptable range for a 6H tolerance class. Machinists, quality technicians, and tool-room personnel are the primary users. It is suited for both production floor sampling and final inspection in low-clearance environments where a small-profile gage is necessary.
Designed for use with 5-44 UNF internal threads per ANSI standards. Requires a separate Size 0 plug gage handle for operation; the handle is not included with this gage.
Thread plug gages are installed and operated by machinists or quality technicians; no power source or utility shutoff is required. Secure the gage in a Size 0 handle before use and inspect the gage member for damage or wear prior to each use cycle. Handle the gage with clean, dry hands or inspection gloves to prevent corrosion on the steel member. Store in a protective case away from heat sources and abrasive materials to maintain dimensional integrity between calibration intervals.
