The SPI 34-202-2 is a single-end Go plug thread gage designed to verify the minimum material condition of 2-56 UNC internally threaded features. Built to ANSI standards and traceable to NIST, this gage confirms that a threaded hole or insert will accept a mating fastener at the correct tolerance boundary. The gage is machined from steel for durability and dimensional stability under repeated use. It is sized for a Class 2B thread fit, which covers the most common commercial and industrial tolerance class for inch-series internal threads. A size 0 handle is required for use but is sold separately.
This gage is used in precision machining, assembly inspection, and quality control environments wherever No. 2-56 threaded components must be verified before assembly. Typical applications include inspection of tapped holes in instrument housings, electronic enclosures, small mechanical assemblies, and fastener-retained covers. It is appropriate for both production floor inspection and tool room verification. The single-end Go design is used specifically to confirm minimum acceptance criteria, and is frequently paired with a No-Go gage to complete a full 2B tolerance check.
Designed for inspection of 2-56 UNC Class 2B internally threaded features. Accepts a size 0 thread gage handle, which is not included.
Thread plug gages are used by machinists, quality technicians, and inspection personnel — no special licensing is required, but users should be trained in proper gage handling to avoid damage to the gage member. Before use, clean the threaded feature and gage member of chips, oil, and debris. Apply light hand pressure only when engaging the gage; never force or power-drive a plug gage into a threaded hole. Store gages in a protective case away from other metal tools to prevent nicking the gage member.
