The SPI 30-230-7 is a 4-piece combination square set built for layout, inspection, and measurement work in mechanical, fabrication, and trade shop environments. The set includes a 12-inch hardened steel blade graduated in both English and metric scales, a square head, a protractor head, and a center head, all cast in iron for rigidity and durability. English graduations read to 1/32 and 1/64 inch. Metric graduations are also provided on the same blade. The complete set weighs 2.5 pounds and ships as a single packaged unit. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die workers, pipefitters, and precision fabricators rely on combination square sets for scribing, angle transfer, depth measurement, and 90-degree reference checks.
The 30-230-7 is suited for general precision layout in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and trade apprenticeship programs. The three interchangeable heads slide along the grooved blade and lock at any position, allowing the same blade to serve square, miter, center-finding, and angle-measurement functions. The set is appropriate for both bench work and field layout tasks where repeatable measurement reference is required. It is packaged as a complete unit and does not require additional accessories for standard use.
Designed as a standard 12-inch combination square set for use with common precision layout and inspection workflows in mechanical and fabrication trade applications.
Combination square sets are hand tools and do not require electrical shutoff or code compliance for use. Before use, verify that the blade lock screw on each head is tightened securely to prevent slippage during measurement. Store the set in a dry environment to prevent corrosion of the hardened steel blade and cast iron heads. Do not use the protractor head or center head as a striking tool, as impact can damage the locking mechanism and compromise measurement accuracy.
