The SPI 29-615-2 is a Class ZZ Plus plug gage machined to a nominal diameter of 0.615 inches with a tolerance of 0.0002 inches. Plug gages are fixed-limit go/no-go inspection tools used to verify that a drilled, bored, or reamed hole falls within a specified dimensional tolerance. Class ZZ Plus designates a tighter-than-standard tolerance grade suited for production inspection applications where close control over hole diameter is required. The 29-615-2 is constructed from steel for dimensional stability and wear resistance. It is handled daily by machinists, quality control technicians, and tool room personnel.
This gage is used in machine shops, manufacturing facilities, and tool rooms to inspect hole diameters in metal, plastic, or composite workpieces. It is a standard single-end plug gage appropriate for bench inspection or in-line production checks where a 0.615-inch nominal hole diameter must be verified. Plug gages should be handled by metrology or quality control personnel familiar with fixed-limit gage inspection procedures. Clean the gage and the hole being inspected before use to prevent contamination from affecting the reading. Store the gage in a protective case away from heat sources to maintain dimensional accuracy. Do not force the gage through a hole, as this can damage the gage member and introduce measurement error.
