The SPI 29-470-2 is a Class ZZ Plus plug gage designed for verifying the diameter of precision bores and holes to a tolerance of 0.0002 inches. Built from steel, this gage provides reliable go/no-go measurement at 0.47 inches nominal diameter. Class ZZ Plus gages are manufactured to tighter tolerances than standard Class ZZ, making them suitable for quality control work where dimensional accuracy is critical. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and QC inspectors use plug gages as a fast, repeatable method for checking workpiece conformance without complex setup.
This gage is suited for use in machine shops, production environments, and inspection rooms where bore diameter verification is part of the workflow. It is appropriate for both incoming inspection and in-process quality checks on drilled, reamed, or bored holes. The 0.47-inch diameter makes it applicable to medium-small bore work typical in general metalworking and precision manufacturing contexts.
Designed as an OEM-style plug gage for verifying 0.47-inch nominal bore diameters in standard precision inspection applications.
Plug gages are handled and used by machinists, QC technicians, and inspection personnel. Clean both the gage and the workpiece bore before use to prevent debris from affecting measurement accuracy. Store the gage in its protective case when not in use to prevent damage to the precision ground surface. Do not force the gage into an undersized bore, as this can cause wear or damage to the gage or workpiece.
