The SPI 23-186-0 is a truncated taperlock thread plug gage used to inspect 9/16-24 unified threads to Class 2A tolerances. The set includes both Go and No Go members, allowing technicians to verify that threaded bores fall within the specified pitch diameter limits in a single setup. The Go member confirms minimum material condition; the No Go member confirms maximum material condition. The gage is machined from tool steel for dimensional stability and wear resistance. A 3-inch handle provides a secure grip during inspection. This type of gage is standard tooling in precision manufacturing, aerospace, and defense maintenance environments where thread conformance must be documented.
The SPI 23-186-0 is suited for incoming inspection, in-process quality checks, and final verification of 9/16-24 threaded holes in production or field maintenance settings. The truncated taperlock design allows quick member changes on a common handle, making it practical for shops that gage multiple thread sizes. Class 2A classification covers the general-purpose external thread standard, and the corresponding plug gage checks the mating internal thread to the same standard. Machinists, quality technicians, and tool-room professionals are the primary users.
Designed for inspection of internal 9/16-24 unified fine-pitch threads to Class 2A tolerance. Compatible with standard taperlock handle systems that accept truncated taperlock gage members.
Thread plug gages are precision instruments and should be handled by calibrated personnel following ASME B1.2 or applicable inspection standards. Store members in protective cases when not in use to prevent nicking or corrosion. Apply a light thread-cutting oil or inspection lubricant before use on ferrous parts to reduce wear on the gage member. Do not force a No Go member into a threaded hole — entry beyond two turns indicates the thread is out of tolerance.
