The SPI 23-132-4 is a truncated taperlock thread plug gage designed to verify internal thread conformance on 5-40 UNC threaded holes. It includes both Go and No Go members, allowing machinists and quality inspectors to confirm that threads fall within Class 2A tolerance limits in a single tool set. The gage is constructed from tool steel for wear resistance and dimensional stability under repeated use. A handle is included. At 7.25 inches in length and 1.26 inches in width, the gage fits standard taperlock-style handles and is suited for bench or in-process inspection work.
This gage is used in manufacturing, machining, and quality control environments where 5-40 UNC threaded components must meet Class 2A external thread fit standards. Typical applications include inspection of tapped holes in small fastener assemblies, instrument housings, and precision mechanical components. The truncated design reduces gage wear and allows inspection of threads with minor surface imperfections without false rejects. It is appropriate for both production floor inspection and receiving inspection workflows.

Thread plug gages are installed and used by machinists, quality technicians, and inspection personnel. Before use, confirm the gage and workpiece threads are clean and free of chips or coolant residue. Insert the Go member by hand without forcing; if it does not pass freely, threads are undersize or damaged. The No Go member should not enter the threaded hole more than two turns; forced entry will damage the gage and may produce invalid results.
