The SPI 23-116-7 is a truncated taperlock thread plug gage designed to inspect No. 1-64 UNC internal threads to Class 2A tolerance standards. It ships as a complete Go and No Go gage set, allowing technicians to verify both the minimum and maximum acceptable thread conditions in a single tool. Constructed from tool steel, this gage delivers the dimensional stability and wear resistance required for consistent, repeatable inspection results on the shop floor or in the field. At 0.423 pounds and 5.75 inches in overall length, it is compact enough for bench use or integration into a standard gage kit.
This gage is used wherever precision thread inspection is required for No. 1-64 UNC fastener applications, including small-hardware assembly, instrument manufacturing, and precision mechanical fabrication. The truncated taperlock design uses replaceable gage members that mount into a standard taperlock handle, making it a practical choice for shops that maintain a full range of thread sizes across multiple plug gage handles. Both Go and No Go members are included, supporting complete Class 2A thread verification without additional components.
Designed for use with standard taperlock-style thread plug gage handles compatible with No. 1-64 thread size members. Verify handle size compatibility before installing gage members.
Thread plug gages should be installed and used by qualified machinists or quality control personnel familiar with gage handling procedures. Taperlock gage members are press-fit into the handle using a gage setter tool — do not force or strike members with a hammer, as this can damage the gage or alter calibration. Keep gages clean and lightly oiled when stored to prevent corrosion and dimensional drift. Calibration should be verified periodically against master setting plugs per applicable ASME B47.1 standards.
