The SPI 21-262-1 is a roller-style contact point designed for use with dial indicators in precision measurement applications. Threaded at 4-48 to meet AGD Group 1 industry standards, this contact point measures 0.5 inches in length and 3/8 inches in diameter. It is constructed from steel for durability and consistent surface contact during inspection tasks. Metrology technicians, machinists, and quality control professionals install this type of accessory when a rolling contact surface is required to reduce drag and improve accuracy on moving or rotating workpieces.
This roller contact point is used in shop floor inspection, fixture-based measurement setups, and quality assurance workflows where standard ball or flat contact points are not appropriate. The roller tip minimizes friction when measuring along a moving surface, making it well suited for checking runout, surface variation, or linear travel on rotating shafts and cylindrical components. It is compatible with AGD Group 1 dial indicators that accept 4-48 threaded contact points.
Designed for use with AGD Group 1 dial indicators accepting a 4-48 threaded contact point.
Installation is performed by machinists or metrology technicians using a contact point wrench or appropriate spanner to thread the point onto the indicator stem. Avoid overtightening, as the 4-48 thread is fine and can be damaged with excessive torque. Ensure the dial indicator is secured in its holder and zeroed after installing a new contact point before taking measurements.
