The SPI 21-055-9 is a carbide ball contact point designed for use with Interapid test indicators. The ball measures 0.059 inches in diameter and the contact point extends 0.688 inches in total length. Carbide construction provides the hardness and wear resistance required for repeated contact during precision measurement work. This replacement tip maintains the accurate, repeatable stylus contact that precision indicator work demands. Metrology technicians, machinists, and quality control professionals install this contact point when the factory tip wears or when the application calls for a ball-style contact geometry.
This contact point is suited for inspection and measurement tasks on machine tools, surface plates, and fixture setups. The ball-style tip is appropriate when measuring into bores, around radii, or on contoured surfaces where a standard flat or chisel tip would give inconsistent readings. It is sold as a single unit and integrates directly with the Interapid test indicator series without modification.
Designed for use with Interapid test indicators as stated by the manufacturer.
Contact point replacement on test indicators is typically performed by metrology technicians or machinists using the appropriate small wrench or driver for the stylus thread. The indicator should be removed from active service before changing the contact point to avoid damage to the measuring mechanism. Avoid overtightening the contact point, as indicator stylus threads are fine and can be damaged by excessive torque. Verify tip seating and zero the indicator after installation before returning it to service.
