The SPI 20-701-9 is a dial drop indicator designed for high-precision dimensional measurement in metrology, machining, and inspection environments. It features a 0.2 inch total measurement range with a fine graduation of 0.0001 inches per division, enabling accurate detection of surface variation, runout, and part deviation. The dial face is 2.25 inches in diameter with a white background and dual-reading scale of 0-100 and 0-50-0 for easy positive and negative deviation reading. A built-in revolution counter tracks cumulative travel. The housing is rigid, forged brass. Licensed metrologists, quality control technicians, and precision machinists are the primary users of this instrument.
This indicator is suited for use in quality assurance labs, machine shop inspection setups, and fixture-based measurement applications. It is appropriate wherever AGD Group 2 indicators are specified, including surface plate work, comparator stands, and CMM accessory setups. The flat back mounting style accommodates standard indicator holders and magnetic base setups. The included Certificate of Calibration traceable to NPL makes this indicator ready for use in environments requiring documented measurement traceability.
Designed as an AGD Group 2 dial drop indicator conforming to ASME B89.1.10M-2001, compatible with standard indicator holders, magnetic bases, and comparator stands that accept a 0.375 inch stem diameter and flat or lug back mounting.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified metrology or machining personnel familiar with precision measurement instruments. Secure the indicator stem in the holder before zeroing the dial; avoid overtightening the clamping mechanism, which can distort the stem and affect accuracy. Keep the contact point and stem clean and free of chips or debris before taking measurements. Store the indicator in its case when not in use to protect the dial face and mechanism.
