The SPI 20-657-3 is a ball-style contact point designed for use with test indicators in precision measurement applications. The contact tip features a 1.00 mm (0.039 inch) diameter steel ball and a total contact point length of 1.47 inches. The steel construction provides durability and dimensional stability during repeated use. This type of contact point is a consumable replacement component installed by machinists, metrologists, and quality control technicians working with dial-type test indicators on inspection fixtures, CMMs, and surface plates.
This contact point is suited for precision measurement tasks where a small-radius ball tip is needed to probe features such as bores, grooves, or curved surfaces. It threads into compatible test indicator spindles and replaces worn or damaged contact points without requiring full instrument replacement. Its compact dimensions make it appropriate for confined measurement areas in both shop-floor and lab environments.
Designed for use with Teclock test indicators. Verify thread size and spindle compatibility with the specific Teclock indicator model before installation.
Contact point replacement is performed by qualified metrology or machine shop personnel. Before replacing, remove the indicator from any active fixture and ensure it is not under spring load or clamping force. Use the appropriate contact point wrench or spanner to avoid damaging the indicator spindle threads. Do not overtighten, as this can distort the spindle or affect indicator calibration.
