The SPI 19-495-1 is a Class ZZ minus plug pin gage with a 0.495-inch diameter, designed for go/no-go inspection of bored holes, drilled passages, and machined features in production and quality-control environments. Constructed from steel, this gage is held to a tolerance of 0.0002 inches, conforming to Class ZZ specifications for general-purpose inspection work. Machinists, toolmakers, and quality technicians use pin gages like this one to verify hole size quickly and reliably without the need for complex measuring instruments.
This gage is suited for inspection tasks in manufacturing, machine shops, fabrication facilities, and maintenance departments. It is used wherever a 0.495-inch nominal hole must be verified for conformance to drawing tolerances. The minus designation means the gage diameter is ground below the nominal size, making it appropriate for verifying minimum hole size in standard minus-tolerance gaging protocols.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or addition to Class ZZ minus plug gage sets used in standard production inspection of 0.495-inch nominal holes.
Pin gages should be handled with clean, dry hands or lint-free gloves to prevent corrosion from skin oils. Store in a protective case away from other tooling to avoid surface damage that would affect accuracy. Calibrate and inspect the gage periodically per your facility quality plan and applicable ASME B89 dimensional metrology standards. Do not force the gage into a hole; light hand pressure only is appropriate for accurate go/no-go results.
