The SPI 19-471-2 is a Class ZZ minus plug pin gage machined from steel and used to verify bore diameters at a nominal size of 0.471 inches. Class ZZ represents the standard tolerance grade for plug gages used in general inspection work, and the minus designation means the gage is ground to the lower limit of the tolerance range. This gage holds a tolerance of 0.000200 inches, making it suitable for go/no-go inspection tasks on machined bores, drilled holes, and other precision features. Machinists, quality technicians, and tool room inspectors use this type of gage as part of incoming, in-process, or final inspection routines.
This pin gage is applied in machine shops, manufacturing facilities, and quality control environments wherever hole diameter conformance must be verified to a defined tolerance. It is commonly used with go/no-go gage handles or held by hand for quick diameter checks on steel, aluminum, plastic, and other workpiece materials. The 0.471 inch nominal diameter positions it within a common range for drilled and reamed holes encountered in general metalworking and light industrial production.
Designed as a standard Class ZZ minus plug pin gage for use with compatible pin gage handles and general-purpose bore inspection fixtures in machine shop and quality control applications.
Pin gages should be handled with clean cotton gloves or wiped free of oils before use to prevent measurement error from thermal expansion or surface contamination. Insert the gage into the bore with light hand pressure only — never force a plug gage, as this can damage both the gage and the workpiece. Store the gage in its protective case when not in use to preserve the ground surface finish and dimensional accuracy. Periodic calibration against traceable standards is recommended to maintain inspection integrity.
