The SPI 17-669-3 is a Shore A scale hardness tester stand designed to hold and support a digital Shore durometer during material hardness testing. The stand provides a stable, controlled platform that ensures consistent contact force and perpendicular probe contact, both of which are critical for accurate Shore A durometer readings. It is rated for use with the SPI 15-137-5 digital Shore durometer. The unit measures 16 inches in length, 10 inches in width, and 10 inches in height, and weighs 16 pounds. Quality control technicians, materials testing labs, and manufacturing facilities use this stand wherever repeatable rubber, elastomer, or soft plastic hardness testing is required.
This stand is suited for bench-top use in industrial, laboratory, and manufacturing quality control environments. It is specifically paired with the SPI 15-137-5 digital Shore durometer to standardize test conditions and eliminate operator-to-operator variation in applied load. Shore A hardness measurement applies to soft materials such as rubber compounds, silicone, neoprene, urethane, and similar elastomers. The stand is appropriate for incoming material inspection, batch certification, and in-process quality checks where documented hardness results are required.
Designed for use with the SPI 15-137-5 digital Shore durometer. Verify compatibility before use with any other durometer model or brand.
Installation and setup is typically performed by a quality control technician or metrology specialist. Place the stand on a flat, stable bench surface before mounting the durometer. Follow the durometer and stand manufacturer instructions for securing the gauge to the stand column and calibrating applied load. Power down or disconnect any associated digital readout devices before making mechanical adjustments to the stand or gauge mount.
