The SPI 15-978-0 is a stainless steel electronic linear scale designed for precise measurement in horizontal and vertical orientations. It covers a measurement range of 0 to 24 inches with a resolution of 0.0005 inches and an accuracy of 0.002 inches, making it suitable for layout, inspection, and machining applications where tight tolerances are required. The scale features data output capability, allowing readings to be sent to compatible data collection devices for recordkeeping or SPC workflows. Power is supplied by two included CR2032 lithium batteries. Installation and use require no special tooling beyond standard mounting hardware appropriate to the application surface.
This scale is used in machine shops, fabrication environments, and precision measurement setups where both horizontal and vertical axis readings are needed. The 0.0005-inch resolution supports fine measurement tasks on mills, lathes, surface plates, and similar equipment. The stainless steel construction holds up in shop environments with light exposure to coolants and debris. Technicians and machinists working in metalworking, tool and die, and quality control settings will find this scale well-suited to fixed or semi-permanent installation on measurement fixtures and machine slides.
Designed for use as a horizontal or vertical electronic linear scale in precision measurement and machining applications. Consult mounting interface specifications to confirm fitment with the intended fixture or machine slide.
Installation is typically performed by a machinist or metrology technician using standard fasteners appropriate to the mounting surface. Ensure all machine power is off and any moving axes are locked before securing the scale body or reader head. Follow the machine manufacturer guidelines for reader head gap and alignment tolerances. Do not overtighten mounting fasteners on the stainless steel housing, as distortion can affect measurement accuracy.
