The SPI 15-054-0 is a rectangular steel gage block ground and lapped to a nominal size of 0.14 inches at Grade AS-1 accuracy. Gage blocks serve as precision length references used to calibrate measurement tools, set comparators, and verify dimensional tolerances on machined parts. This block includes NIST certification, providing documented traceability to national measurement standards. Grade AS-1 represents a high level of dimensional accuracy suitable for calibration and inspection work in metrology labs and production quality control environments. The steel construction delivers the durability and wear resistance expected in regular calibration use.
This gage block is suited for use in metrology laboratories, tool rooms, and quality inspection departments. Typical applications include setting snap gages and height gages, calibrating micrometers and calipers, and establishing reference lengths for precision machining setups. The individual block can be used alone or wrung together with other gage blocks in a matched set to build up a specific target dimension. It is appropriate for both incoming inspection and in-process dimensional verification across general manufacturing, aerospace, and precision machining operations.
Designed as an OEM-style individual gage block compatible with standard rectangular steel gage block sets and accessories conforming to Grade AS-1 dimensional tolerances.
Gage blocks are handled and set by metrology technicians, quality engineers, and precision machinists. Before use, clean all mating surfaces with an appropriate gage block cleaning solution to remove oil and debris that could affect accuracy. When wringing blocks together, apply light pressure with a slight sliding motion rather than forcing them together. Store blocks in their designated case and apply a light coat of corrosion-inhibiting oil when not in use to prevent surface rust or oxidation.
