The SPI 14-822-1 is a hardened chrome steel gage ball designed for precision measurement and inspection applications. With a diameter of 12 mm and Grade 25 accuracy, this ball meets AFBMA certified standards for dimensional accuracy and surface finish. Hardened chrome steel construction provides the hardness and wear resistance required for repeatable contact measurement, go/no-go gauging, and fixture setup work. Each package contains two balls. This type of precision ball is used by quality technicians, machinists, and metrology professionals in manufacturing and inspection environments.
Chrome steel gage balls at Grade 25 accuracy are suited for use in precision measurement fixtures, bore gauging, gap inspection, and tooling setups. They are commonly used in quality control labs, on the shop floor, or in dimensional verification processes where tight tolerances must be confirmed. The 12 mm diameter makes this ball suitable for mid-range bore and slot inspection tasks requiring a certified reference ball.
Designed as a certified reference gage ball for use in precision measurement fixtures, bore gauges, and dimensional inspection tooling that accept a 12 mm diameter contact ball.
Gage balls are handled and placed by quality technicians or machinists during inspection setup. Handle with clean, lint-free gloves to avoid contamination of the surface finish, which can affect measurement accuracy. Store balls in a dry, protected environment away from corrosive materials when not in use. Do not force a gage ball into a fixture or bore that is undersized for the nominal diameter.
