The SPI 14-818-9 is a hardened chrome steel gage ball with an 8 mm diameter, manufactured to Grade 25 accuracy and certified to AFBMA standards. Gage balls are precision-ground spheres used as reference standards and measurement aids in dimensional inspection, fixture tooling, and calibration work. The hardened chrome steel construction provides consistent roundness and surface finish, making these balls suitable for applications where repeatable, traceable measurement is required. Each package contains two gage balls. They are commonly used by machinists, metrologists, and quality technicians in shop-floor and lab environments.
Grade 25 gage balls are appropriate for mid-to-high-precision measurement tasks including bore gauging, radius gauging, and fixture setup in manufacturing and inspection settings. The 8 mm diameter fits a wide range of standard tooling applications. AFBMA certification confirms the balls meet established dimensional and roundness tolerances for precision measurement use.
Designed as a precision reference standard for use with bore gages, radius gages, and fixture tooling requiring an 8 mm hardened steel ball to AFBMA Grade 25 tolerances.
Gage balls are handled and installed by machinists, metrologists, and quality inspection technicians. Keep balls clean and free of debris before use to avoid measurement errors. Store in a protective case or pouch to prevent surface damage. Do not use gage balls as functional load-bearing components; they are precision measurement references only.
