The SPI 14-192-9 is a 6-piece telescoping gage set covering a measurement range of 5/16 inch to 6 inches. Each gage uses a spring-loaded, self-centering plunger that locks at bore diameter, allowing the technician to transfer the measurement to an outside micrometer for a precise reading. The bodies are machined from hardened tool steel for wear resistance, and the working faces carry a titanium nitride (TiN) coating that reduces friction and extends service life. Handle lengths in the set measure 4 inches and 5 inches, giving good reach in both shallow and deeper bores. The complete set ships in a vinyl storage pouch and weighs 1 pound.
This set is used by machinists, tool-and-die workers, maintenance technicians, and metrology personnel who need to measure inside diameters, bores, slots, and grooves that a standard caliper jaw cannot reliably reach. Typical applications include checking cylinder bores, bushing IDs, bearing housings, and valve guides in production, repair, and inspection environments. The six-piece range covers the most common bore sizes encountered in general machining and mechanical maintenance work.
Designed as a general-purpose telescoping gage set for use with any outside micrometer calibrated in inch measurements; compatible with standard shop measurement workflows wherever inside-diameter transfer gaging is required.
Telescoping gages are used by machinists and precision measurement technicians and require no installation. Compress the plunger, insert the gage into the bore at a slight angle, allow it to expand against the bore walls, lock the plunger, then withdraw and measure across the contact points with a calibrated outside micrometer. Clean contact faces before use to avoid measurement errors. Store in the provided vinyl pouch to protect the TiN-coated working faces from damage.
