The SPECO VIDGL is a video ground loop isolator designed for use with coaxial cable installations in surveillance and security camera systems. Ground loop interference is a common cause of horizontal banding, hum bars, and image distortion in video feeds, particularly where two pieces of equipment share different ground potentials. The VIDGL breaks the ground loop path along the coaxial line, restoring a clean, stable video signal without requiring changes to the camera or recording equipment. It is installed inline by security technicians and low-voltage integration professionals.
The VIDGL is suited for closed-circuit television (CCTV) and analog video distribution applications in both residential and commercial installations. It is typically used when a camera and a DVR or monitor are powered from separate circuits or located in different sections of a building, which is a common source of ground loop problems. The isolator is placed inline on the coaxial cable run between the video source and the receiving device.
Designed as an OEM-style inline accessory for coaxial-based analog video systems where ground loop isolation is required between a video source and a display or recording device.
Installation is performed by low-voltage technicians or security system integrators familiar with coaxial cable terminations and CCTV system architecture. Power down the camera and recording equipment before connecting or disconnecting the isolator from the coaxial line. Ensure all coaxial connectors are properly seated and crimped or twisted to maintain signal integrity. Follow applicable local low-voltage wiring codes and any relevant NEC low-voltage installation guidelines.
