The SPECO sp6mat is a 6.5-inch, multi-application ceiling speaker designed for commercial distributed audio installations. It ships pre-assembled with an integrated back can and a mounted transformer, eliminating field wiring of separate components. A quick-flip selector switch toggles between 25-volt and 70-volt distributed audio lines, and a rotary wattage tap dial provides 8 or 9 individual wattage settings to match output requirements across zones. The housing is molded from flame-retardant ABS. A licensed audio or low-voltage contractor can configure and mount this unit without special adapters or additional hardware.
This speaker targets commercial environments including retail spaces, offices, restaurants, and similar facilities where 70-volt distributed audio systems are standard. The integrated 8-ohm tap selector also qualifies the unit for residential installations when a standard impedance speaker is needed on short notice. The pre-assembled design is intended to reduce labor time on job sites where large speaker counts are typical. The built-in mount tabs and attached metal seismic safety loop address common building code and seismic compliance requirements in commercial ceiling installations.
Designed for use on 25-volt and 70-volt distributed audio systems in commercial and light commercial settings. The 8-ohm tap also supports standard residential audio configurations, making this an all-purpose on-hand stock option for audio contractors.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage or audio contractor in accordance with applicable local electrical codes and NEC Article 640 for audio signal distribution. Power down the amplifier and distributed audio system before connecting or switching the voltage selector. Verify the voltage tap setting matches the system line voltage before applying power. The seismic safety loop must be secured to the ceiling structure per local building requirements before the unit is considered complete.
