The SPEARS 9806-020 is a 90-degree elbow fitting manufactured from CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) for use in Schedule 80 pressure piping systems. It features a 1-1/2 inch slip socket connection on both ends, allowing solvent-cement joining to CPVC pipe of the same size and schedule. CPVC construction provides strong resistance to corrosion, chemical exposure, and elevated water temperatures, making this fitting a reliable choice for hot and cold water distribution, industrial process lines, and chemical handling applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers of this component.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems as well as industrial applications where CPVC Schedule 80 pipe is specified. Common install scenarios include domestic hot water supply lines, hydronic distribution, and chemical process piping where standard PVC is not rated for the service temperature or chemical environment. The slip socket ends are compatible with standard 1-1/2 inch CPVC Schedule 80 pipe using approved CPVC solvent cement.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for 1-1/2 inch CPVC Schedule 80 piping systems using solvent-cement slip connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for CPVC solvent cementing. Depressurize and drain the piping system fully before cutting into any existing line. Use only CPVC-rated primer and solvent cement — do not substitute PVC cement, as it is not formulated for CPVC. Allow full cure time per the cement manufacturer's instructions before restoring system pressure.
