The SPEARS 858-020 is a Schedule 80 PVC union fitting designed for threaded pipe connections in industrial and commercial fluid systems. Part of the Spears 2000 Series, this union uses a female NPT (FNPT) end style on both sides and seals with an FKM O-ring, making it well suited for applications where chemical resistance and reliable shutoff are required. Rated to 235 psi at 73 degrees F, it handles the pressure demands typical of process piping, chemical distribution, and heavy-duty plumbing installations. The fitting measures 3.625 inches in length and weighs 1.07 pounds. It is molded from gray PVC and manufactured domestically in the United States.
This union is intended for 2-inch nominal FNPT piping systems operating within its rated temperature and pressure limits. The SCH 80/XH schedule rating makes it appropriate for industrial fluid handling, chemical process lines, irrigation manifolds, and commercial plumbing where standard SCH 40 fittings are insufficient. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters typically install this fitting in systems carrying water, mild acids, bases, or other fluids compatible with PVC and FKM elastomers. It is not intended for compressed air, gas service, or temperatures exceeding its rated 73 degrees F operating point.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation union for 2-inch nominal FNPT Schedule 80 PVC piping systems. Compatible with systems requiring FKM O-ring seals and carrying fluids within the chemical resistance range of PVC and FKM elastomers.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the IPC. Depressurize and drain the line completely before disassembling or installing this union. Use strap wrenches rather than pipe wrenches on PVC fittings to avoid cracking the body. Do not exceed the rated pressure or temperature, and verify that the process fluid is compatible with both PVC and FKM before installation.
