The SPEARS 839-338C is a flush reducing bushing designed to connect threaded pipe of different sizes within a pressurized piping system. It features a male NPT inlet at 3 inches and a female NPT outlet at 2 inches, allowing a straight, inline pipe reduction without the need for additional fittings. Molded from CPVC, the bushing carries a Schedule 80/XH pressure rating, making it well suited for systems handling corrosive fluids, hot water, or chemicals that would degrade standard PVC. The overall length is 1-15/16 inches. Plumbers and pipefitters working on industrial or commercial plumbing systems are the primary installers of this fitting.
This bushing is used in threaded CPVC pressure piping systems where a reduction from a 3-inch line down to a 2-inch branch or continuation is required. Typical applications include chemical processing lines, hot and cold water distribution, and industrial fluid handling where elevated temperatures or chemical exposure rule out metal or standard PVC fittings. The flush-style design keeps the installed profile compact and is commonly found in tight mechanical spaces or inline with Schedule 80 CPVC pipe runs.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 CPVC pressure piping systems using 3-inch male NPT and 2-inch female NPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes, including the International Plumbing Code. Depressurize and drain the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Use CPVC-compatible thread sealant or tape only — do not use solvents or compounds not rated for CPVC, as they can degrade the material. Do not overtighten threaded CPVC connections, as the material can crack under excessive torque.
