The SPEARS 837-212C is a flush reducing bushing designed for pressure piping systems that require a step-down transition between pipe sizes. Rated to SCH 80/XH standards and molded from CPVC, this bushing handles the elevated temperatures and corrosive media common in industrial and commercial plumbing applications. The spigot x socket end configuration allows it to slip directly into a standard socket fitting on the larger end while accepting a pipe or fitting on the smaller end. At 1-9/16 inches in length, the compact flush profile keeps transitions tight and minimizes dead space in the line. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers for this type of pressure-rated CPVC fitting.
This bushing is suited for residential and commercial pressure piping systems where a 1-1/2 inch line must be reduced to 1-1/4 inch. Typical applications include hot and cold water distribution, chemical process lines, and industrial fluid handling where CPVC is specified for its resistance to chlorinated and corrosive fluids. The SCH 80/XH wall thickness rating makes it appropriate for higher-pressure service compared to standard Schedule 40 fittings. Its gray CPVC construction is consistent with Schedule 80 system components, simplifying visual identification during inspection or maintenance.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for SCH 80 CPVC pressure piping systems using 1-1/2 inch to 1-1/4 inch reducing connections with spigot x socket end configurations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the affected line completely before cutting or disassembling any section of the system. CPVC solvent cement and primer appropriate for SCH 80 fittings must be used per the cement manufacturer instructions. Do not apply mechanical force or heat to accelerate cure time, and allow full cure before restoring pressure to the line.
