The SPEARS 54211172223 is a standard reducing coupling manufactured from molded CPVC for Schedule 80/XH pressure piping systems. It transitions from a 2-inch nominal pipe to a 1-1/4-inch nominal pipe using socket-style end connections, providing a secure solvent-welded joint. At 3-11/32 inches in length, this fitting is sized for direct inline installation where a pipe diameter reduction is required within a pressure line. The gray CPVC construction offers resistance to corrosive chemicals and elevated temperatures, making it well suited for industrial and commercial process piping as well as aggressive fluid handling applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers.
This reducing coupling is used in Schedule 80 CPVC pressure piping systems found in industrial process lines, chemical distribution systems, and commercial plumbing installations. The socket end style accepts CPVC pipe for a solvent-cement bond. Its domestic manufacture and Schedule 80/XH wall thickness rating make it appropriate for higher-pressure service conditions where standard Schedule 40 fittings are not specified. It is intended for use with CPVC pipe of matching nominal sizes and schedule rating.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for Schedule 80 CPVC pressure piping systems using 2-inch and 1-1/4-inch nominal pipe sizes with socket-style solvent-cement connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. The system must be fully depressurized and drained before removing any existing fittings or cutting into the line. Use only CPVC-rated solvent cement and primer appropriate for Schedule 80 CPVC; do not substitute PVC cement. Allow full cure time per the cement manufacturer instructions before returning the line to service.
