The SPEARS 54211159125 is a Schedule 80 PVC reducing bushing designed to transition between a 1-1/2 inch male NPT thread and a 1/2 inch female NPT thread in pressurized piping systems. Molded from gray PVC, it carries an SCH 80/XH pressure rating for use in demanding applications where wall thickness and pressure capacity exceed standard Schedule 40 requirements. At 1-11/32 inches in length and 0.12 pounds, it is a compact, lightweight fitting suitable for tight installations. Plumbers and pipefitters install this bushing when reducing pipe diameter inline without cutting additional fittings into the run.
This reducing bushing is used in residential and commercial plumbing, irrigation, industrial fluid handling, and chemical distribution systems where PVC is an approved material. The MNPT x FNPT end configuration allows it to thread directly into a female-threaded fitting or valve on one end while accepting a male-threaded pipe or fitting on the other. Its domestic manufacture and SCH 80 rating make it a common choice in systems requiring traceable, code-compliant components.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC threaded piping systems using standard NPT thread patterns.
A licensed plumber or pipefitter should install this fitting in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing codes. Depressurize and drain the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for PVC and the fluid being conveyed. Do not overtighten NPT threads in PVC fittings, as this can cause cracking at the thread root.
