The SPEARS 51181121 is a Schedule 80 CPVC spigot-by-socket (SxS) reducing bushing designed to transition from a 2-inch pipe down to a 1-1/2-inch socket connection in high-pressure and high-temperature thermoplastic piping systems. Built from CPVC compound, this bushing handles the elevated temperatures and corrosive media common in industrial process lines, chemical distribution systems, and hot-water plumbing applications. At 0.15 pounds, it is a compact, lightweight fitting that installs without special equipment. Plumbers and pipefitters working with Schedule 80 thermoplastic systems select this bushing when a reducing connection is required at a socket joint.
This bushing is suited for residential and commercial plumbing, industrial process piping, and chemical handling systems where CPVC Schedule 80 fittings are specified. The spigot end inserts into a 2-inch Schedule 80 socket, and the socket end accepts a 1-1/2-inch Schedule 80 spigot or pipe end. It is appropriate wherever a same-plane reducing connection is needed without adding a separate coupling and reducer in-line.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems using solvent-cement socket connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters following applicable IPC and local plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before cutting into any existing piping. Use only CPVC-rated solvent cement and primer appropriate for Schedule 80 fittings, and allow full cure time before restoring flow. Do not use petroleum-based lubricants or tools that could stress or crack the fitting body during assembly.
