The SPEARS 402-212 is a molded PVC Schedule 40 reducing tee designed for pressure piping systems in residential and commercial plumbing applications. It features a 1-1/2 inch by 1-1/2 inch by 1-1/4 inch configuration with socket connections on the run ends and a female NPT (FNPT) thread on the branch outlet. Manufactured from PVC Type I material with a cell classification of 12454 per ASTM D1784, this fitting meets ASTM D2466 requirements and carries NSF International certification for potable water service. Overall length is 4-19/32 inches. The white color finish aids visual identification during installation.
This reducing tee is suited for Schedule 40 PVC pressure piping systems handling cold and warm water distribution up to 140 degrees F. Typical applications include domestic potable water supply lines, irrigation distribution manifolds, and light industrial process piping where a branch takeoff at a reduced pipe size is required. The FNPT branch outlet accepts a threaded male adapter or instrument connection without an additional socket fitting, simplifying layouts where a threaded transition is needed at the branch point.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 40 PVC pressure piping systems using 1-1/2 inch run pipe and a 1-1/4 inch threaded branch connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable plumbing codes, including IPC provisions for solvent-welded PVC pressure piping. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before cutting into any existing line. Use a PVC-rated primer and solvent cement appropriate for Schedule 40 fittings on the socket ends; follow the cement manufacturer's cure time before restoring pressure. The FNPT branch outlet requires thread sealant tape or compound rated for potable water service applied to the male threads before assembly.
