The SPEARS 402-025 is a PVC Schedule 40 threaded tee fitting designed for use in pressurized piping systems where a branch connection is needed at a tee junction. One run end and the branch accept solvent-weld socket connections, while the remaining run end uses a female iron pipe thread (FIPT) connection. The fitting is manufactured from white PVC, a material well-suited for cold and ambient-temperature water service, irrigation, and chemical distribution lines. Plumbers and pipefitters working on residential and light commercial systems routinely specify Schedule 40 fittings for their pressure ratings and broad chemical compatibility.
This fitting is used in 2.5-inch PVC piping runs where a threaded female connection is required on one end, such as when transitioning to a threaded valve, strainer, or equipment port. The socket ends allow for standard solvent-cement joining on two connection points. Typical applications include potable water distribution, irrigation headers, industrial fluid handling, and pool or spa plumbing where a tee with a threaded takeoff is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for use with 2.5-inch PVC Schedule 40 piping systems using solvent-cement socket joints and female iron pipe thread connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before cutting into any existing line. Use an appropriate PVC primer and solvent cement on the socket ends per the cement manufacturer's instructions, and allow full cure time before pressurizing. Apply thread sealant tape or compound to male threads before engaging the FIPT port — do not overtighten, as PVC threads can crack under excessive torque.
