The SOUTHWIRE TB5SSCG is a 1-1/2 inch aluminum threaded bushing designed for use with EMT and rigid metal conduit systems. Threaded bushings protect wire and cable insulation from abrasion at conduit termination points, fitting over the threaded end of rigid conduit or IMC where it enters an enclosure, panel, or junction box. The aluminum construction keeps weight low while providing corrosion resistance in typical indoor and outdoor electrical installations. This fitting is installed by licensed electricians and electrical contractors during rough-in and finish wiring work on commercial and residential projects.
This bushing is suited for 1-1/2 inch EMT and rigid conduit terminations in a wide range of electrical distribution and wiring applications. Typical install scenarios include service entrance conduit terminations, panelboard feeders, and branch circuit raceways where conduit ends must be protected to comply with NEC requirements for conductor protection at enclosure entries. The aluminum material makes it a practical choice where steel bushings may be prone to corrosion, such as in light industrial or damp-location installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement fitting for 1-1/2 inch threaded rigid metal conduit and IMC termination points in standard electrical raceway installations.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician. De-energize and lock out the circuit or panel before working at any conduit termination point, following NFPA 70 (NEC) lockout/tagout procedures. Thread the bushing onto the conduit end before pulling conductors, and ensure it is seated fully to eliminate any sharp edges that could damage insulation. Do not over-tighten aluminum fittings, as the threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
