The SOUTHWIRE P490 is a 90-degree liquidtight connector designed for use with flexible liquidtight conduit systems. Constructed from gray nylon, this fitting creates a secure, watertight transition from flexible conduit to an enclosure or junction box. The 3/8-inch trade size makes it well-suited for protecting wire runs in environments where moisture, oils, or mechanical exposure are a concern. Electricians install this connector where a right-angle exit is required and rigid metal fittings are not appropriate for the application.
This connector is used in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical installations wherever flexible liquidtight conduit terminates at a panel, box, or equipment enclosure. The 90-degree angle is especially practical in tight spaces where a straight connector would force a sharp conduit bend. Typical applications include HVAC equipment wiring, pump and motor connections, and outdoor enclosure entries where conduit must change direction close to the knockout.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement fitting compatible with 3/8-inch flexible liquidtight conduit systems in standard electrical installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize the circuit and verify with a meter before working at any enclosure or junction box. Hand-tighten the connector into the knockout and secure with the included locknut, then seat the conduit fully before tightening the compression nut. Do not overtighten nylon fittings, as the body can crack under excessive torque.
