The SOUTHWIRE P-16 is a reinforced service insulator wire holder designed to secure and support overhead service entrance conductors at the point of attachment on a structure. The strap features a 3/8-inch by 2-1/4-inch lag configuration that anchors directly into wood framing, fascia, or other structural members. This type of fitting is a standard component in residential and light commercial overhead service installations, keeping service drop conductors properly spaced and mechanically secured at the building attachment point. Electricians and utility contractors install this hardware during new service installations and service upgrade work.
The P-16 is suited for overhead electrical service entrance applications on residential and light commercial structures. It is used where the utility service drop meets the building and a secure, insulated attachment point is required. The lag-style fastener allows direct installation into wood substrates without additional hardware in most standard applications, making it a practical choice for service entrance work on wood-framed construction.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation wire holder for overhead service entrance applications on residential and light commercial wood-framed structures.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for service entrance equipment and conductor support. De-energize or coordinate with the utility to ensure the service drop is de-energized before handling conductors at the attachment point. The lag fastener should be driven into sound, solid wood framing of adequate thickness to provide a secure hold. Do not overtighten in a way that damages the insulator body or compromises the clamping integrity of the strap.
