The SOUTHWIRE MR7 is a reducing washer used to adapt a larger knockout opening to accept a smaller conduit fitting or connector. When a panel, enclosure, or junction box has a knockout sized larger than the fitting being installed, this washer fills the gap and creates a secure, flush mount. Electricians use reducing washers routinely during panel work, device installation, and conduit terminations. The MR7 is sized at 1-1/4 inches outer diameter reducing to 1 inch, making it a common size for service panels and branch circuit enclosures.
This reducing washer is suited for residential and light commercial electrical work wherever conduit or fittings must terminate into a box or enclosure with an oversized knockout. Typical applications include service entrance panels, subpanels, junction boxes, and load centers. It is installed by licensed electricians and experienced DIYers performing conduit work under permit. Cross-reference: Topaz 905, Madison MR-7.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement reducing washer for use with 1-1/4 inch knockouts requiring a 1 inch fitting seat. Cross-references to Topaz 905 and Madison MR-7.
Reducing washers are installed by licensed electricians working on panel and enclosure terminations. De-energize and lock out the circuit or service before opening any enclosure or working near live conductors. Seat the washer flat against the enclosure surface before threading the fitting locknut to ensure proper grounding continuity through the metal path. Work must conform to applicable NEC requirements for the installation jurisdiction.
