The SOUTHWIRE MECR-762 is a rain-tight steel EMT compression coupling designed for joining electrical metallic tubing in conduit installations exposed to wet or damp conditions. The coupling uses a compression-style connection to create a secure, low-resistance bond between conduit sections without threading. Its steel construction provides mechanical strength and corrosion resistance appropriate for outdoor, underground, or other moisture-prone environments. Licensed electricians install this coupling wherever the National Electrical Code requires rain-tight fittings for EMT conduit runs in wet locations.
The MECR-762 is suited for residential and commercial electrical installations where EMT conduit must be joined in locations subject to rain, condensation, or wash-down exposure. Typical applications include exterior service entrances, rooftop equipment connections, parking structures, and industrial areas where conduit routing passes through wet-rated zones. The compression design eliminates the need for set-screws, maintaining a continuous raceway without gaps that could compromise the rain-tight rating.
Designed as an OEM-style rain-tight replacement fitting for standard EMT conduit systems. This part is also referenced under Madison MECR-762 and Topaz 663SRT.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for wet-location conduit fittings. De-energize all circuits in the affected conduit run before beginning work. Hand-tighten the compression nut until snug, then advance with an appropriate wrench to achieve a secure, rain-tight seal — do not overtighten to the point of deforming the conduit. Verify the completed raceway maintains electrical continuity for grounding purposes before restoring power.
