The SOUTHWIRE MCBGI-150 is a malleable iron insulated grounding bushing designed for use in electrical conduit installations where a secure equipment grounding connection is required at the end of a conduit run. The bushing features a plastic liner that protects wire insulation from the sharp edges of the conduit end, while the threaded malleable iron body provides a durable mechanical and grounding connection to the enclosure or panel. This type of fitting is a standard component in commercial and industrial electrical work where code-compliant grounding continuity is required at conduit terminations.
This insulated grounding bushing is suited for use in commercial, industrial, and residential electrical installations. It is threaded for installation onto the end of rigid metal conduit or intermediate metal conduit at enclosure knockouts, junction boxes, panelboards, and similar termination points. Electricians use this bushing wherever a grounding lug and insulated throat are needed to maintain grounding continuity and protect conductor insulation at conduit entry points.
Designed as an OEM-style grounding bushing for use with 1-1/2 inch threaded rigid metal conduit or intermediate metal conduit terminations at enclosures, panelboards, and junction boxes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit and lock out the panel before beginning conduit termination work. Thread the bushing onto the conduit end by hand until snug, then tighten with an appropriate wrench; do not overtighten, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive force. Attach the equipment grounding conductor to the grounding lug before completing the installation.
