The SOUTHWIRE LRB29 is a malleable iron reducing bushing designed to transition conduit or fitting connections from a 3-inch opening down to a 2.5-inch opening. Malleable iron construction provides durability and resistance to mechanical stress in both exposed and concealed electrical installations. This type of reducing bushing is a standard hardware item used by licensed electricians to adapt knockout sizes, junction boxes, and conduit fittings when mixed trade sizes are encountered on a job. The part threads directly into a larger female opening to accept a smaller male conduit or fitting.
This reducing bushing is suited for use in residential and commercial electrical installations wherever conduit system size transitions are required. It is commonly installed in panel enclosures, junction boxes, and conduit bodies when a single enclosure must accommodate multiple conduit entry sizes. Electricians working with rigid metal conduit or intermediate metal conduit systems will encounter this fitting type frequently in retrofit and new construction scenarios.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation reducing bushing for use with 3-inch to 2.5-inch threaded conduit fittings, knockouts, and enclosures in standard electrical conduit systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize the panel or enclosure and verify the absence of voltage before working inside any electrical enclosure. Thread the bushing into the larger knockout or fitting opening by hand first, then tighten with an appropriate pipe wrench or strap wrench to achieve a secure, rattle-free connection. Avoid over-tightening, which can crack malleable iron fittings.
