The SOUTHWIRE L708 is a 3-inch zinc chase nipple designed for use in rigid conduit installations. Also known as a rigid speed nipple, it provides a short threaded coupling section that allows electricians to quickly join conduit to enclosures, panels, or junction boxes. The zinc construction offers corrosion resistance suitable for standard indoor and outdoor applications. This fitting is a stock component in commercial and residential electrical work wherever rigid metal conduit terminations are required.
This chase nipple is used in rigid conduit systems during new construction and retrofit wiring projects. It is commonly installed at panel knockouts, enclosure entries, and junction box terminations. Electricians working on commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and residential service installations regularly use this type of fitting to secure conduit connections efficiently.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fitment chase nipple for rigid metal conduit systems. Also referenced under Topaz 758 and Madison L-708 part numbers.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC requirements for rigid metal conduit systems. De-energize and lock out the panel or enclosure before installing or removing conduit fittings. Use appropriate conduit wrenches to achieve secure thread engagement without over-tightening the fitting. Inspect threads for damage before installation to ensure a proper seal and mechanical connection.
