The SOUTHWIRE L106 is a non-watertight zinc cable connector designed for securing Romex-style non-metallic sheathed cable to metal electrical enclosures, panels, and junction boxes. The zinc die-cast body provides reliable mechanical hold and a low-profile profile suited for standard residential and light commercial wiring work. At 1-1/4 inch trade size, this connector accepts common NM cable runs used throughout residential construction and retrofit projects. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this connector where code-compliant cable termination at the enclosure knockout is required but watertight sealing is not specified.
This connector is intended for dry, indoor applications where NEC-compliant cable strain relief and box entry are needed. Typical installations include residential panel feeders, junction box entries, and device box rough-in work. It is not rated for wet or damp locations. The 1-1/4 inch size fits standard knockouts of the same trade size found on most steel and aluminum enclosures used in residential and light commercial electrical work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit connector for 1-1/4 inch trade-size knockouts on metal electrical enclosures in dry indoor installations. Also referenced by cross-part numbers Madison Electric L-106 and Topaz 144R.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize all circuits in the enclosure before beginning work. Insert the connector through the knockout, seat the locknut firmly by hand, and torque using a locknut wrench or screwdriver per standard trade practice. This connector is not listed for wet or damp locations and should not be used outdoors or in areas subject to moisture exposure.
