The SOUTHWIRE GRC3 is a ground rod clamp designed to bond a grounding conductor to a 3/4-inch ground rod. This type of fitting is a foundational component in grounding electrode systems, creating a secure, low-resistance connection between the grounding wire and the driven rod. It is installed at the point where the grounding electrode conductor meets the ground rod, typically at or just below grade. Licensed electricians and grounding system installers use this clamp during new construction, service upgrades, and grounding system repairs to meet NEC grounding electrode requirements.
This clamp is suited for residential and light commercial electrical installations where a 3/4-inch ground rod is the chosen grounding electrode. It is typically installed outdoors at the base of a driven ground rod as part of a grounding electrode system. The clamp accommodates the grounding electrode conductor run from the main service panel or grounding electrode system to the rod itself.
Designed as an OEM-style grounding accessory for use with standard 3/4-inch diameter driven ground rods in residential and light commercial grounding electrode systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 250 grounding and bonding requirements. De-energize the service before making any connections to the grounding electrode system. Ensure the ground rod is driven to the required depth before attaching the clamp, and confirm the clamp is rated for the conductor size being used. Do not substitute this clamp for listed irreversible compression connectors in applications where those are required by code.
