The SOUTHWIRE G60004-1A is a Type FPLP unshielded fire alarm cable engineered for fire protective signaling and life-safety wiring in plenum air-handling spaces. Part of the 341UP series, it carries a 300 VAC voltage rating and uses 14 AWG bare solid copper conductors with a 2-conductor configuration. The LS-PVC insulation and jacket meet plenum-rated requirements, keeping smoke and flame spread within code-required limits. Rated to 75 degrees C, this cable is built for installations where NEC Article 760 and UL 1424 compliance are mandatory. Licensed electricians and fire alarm contractors install this cable in commercial and institutional buildings where plenum-routing is required.
This cable is suited for residential and commercial fire alarm systems, including smoke detector circuits, voice communications, audio control wiring, and initiating circuits. Its plenum rating makes it the correct choice wherever cables are routed through HVAC supply or return air plenums. The red jacket follows standard fire alarm cable color convention for quick identification during inspection and service. At 1000 feet per reel, it supports large-scale rough-in work without mid-run splices on most floor layouts.
Designed for use in fire protective signaling circuits, smoke detector wiring, voice communications, audio control, and initiating circuits where a Type FPLP plenum-rated 14 AWG 2-conductor unshielded cable is required per NEC Article 760.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician or certified fire alarm technician in accordance with NEC Article 760 and all applicable local codes. De-energize the fire alarm control panel and follow the panel manufacturer lockout procedure before connecting conductors. Do not exceed the cable temperature rating of 75 degrees C in any installation environment. In plenum spaces, maintain proper cable support intervals and avoid sharp bends that could damage the LS-PVC jacket.
