The SOUTHWIRE 946002001 is a 22 AWG, 7-strand copper hook-up wire supplied in a 250-foot coil and sold in 1-foot cut increments. The stranded copper conductor is jacketed in a brown and white PVC sleeve with an outside diameter of 0.156 inches. It is rated for use between -4 degrees F and 140 degrees F, making it suitable for a broad range of low-voltage wiring applications. Licensed electricians and controls technicians use this wire for panel wiring, instrumentation, and Class 3 remote-control or signaling circuits in both residential and light commercial settings.
This wire is well suited for low-voltage control wiring found in HVAC systems, security and fire alarm panels, audio-visual installations, and general instrumentation runs. Its 7-strand construction provides flexibility during routing through enclosures and conduit, reducing the risk of conductor fatigue during installation. The brown and white jacket options make it easy to maintain color-coded wiring schemes in multi-conductor applications. The 250-foot coil length supports typical job-site needs with minimal splicing.
Designed for use in Class 3 remote-control, signaling, and low-voltage power-limited circuits as defined under NEC Article 725, and suitable for general hook-up and panel wiring applications requiring 22 AWG stranded copper conductors.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out all circuits before making connections. Verify conduit fill calculations using the published outside diameter of 0.156 inches. Do not exceed the conductor temperature rating of 140 degrees F at any point in the circuit.
