The SOUTHWIRE 55082622 is a liquidtight flexible metal conduit (LFMC) designed to protect electrical wiring in wet, oily, and harsh-environment installations. The core is spiral-wound, square-locked galvanized steel, covered with a sunlight-resistant PVC jacket. At 1/2 inch trade size and 50 feet per roll, it is suited for runs that require both flexibility and reliable moisture protection. Licensed electricians install this conduit where rigid or standard flexible metal conduit would not meet code for wet locations. The foot markings printed directly on the extruded PVC cover speed up measuring and cutting on the job.
This conduit is used in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical installations where the raceway must resist water intrusion, cutting oils, coolants, and similar contaminants. Typical applications include final connections to HVAC compressors, motors, pumps, and outdoor disconnect panels. The combination of a galvanized steel core and PVC jacket makes it a standard choice for equipment hookups near wash-down zones, mechanical rooms, and rooftop units where standing water or direct sunlight exposure is a concern.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use LFMC suitable for 1/2 inch liquidtight fittings in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems where UL-listed flexible metal conduit is required by code.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 350 governing liquidtight flexible metal conduit. De-energize the circuit and lock out the disconnect before making any connections. Use listed 1/2 inch liquidtight fittings at each termination to maintain the liquidtight integrity of the raceway. Avoid sharp bends that exceed the minimum bend radius, as over-bending can deform the core and compromise jacket integrity.
