The SOUTHWIRE 55082103 is a reduced-wall flexible aluminum metal conduit (FMC) supplied in a 1/2 inch by 100 foot roll. It provides the structural integrity required for protecting electrical conductors in commercial and residential wiring applications while weighing approximately two-thirds less than equivalent steel conduit. The aluminum construction resists corrosion and simplifies handling on the job site. This conduit is engineered to work with standard conduit connectors and device boxes, making it a direct fit into existing installations without specialty fittings. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors are the primary installers.
This conduit is suited for indoor and outdoor electrical installations where routing flexibility is required — particularly in tight spaces, around obstructions, or for final connections to motors, HVAC equipment, panels, and luminaires. The 1/2 inch trade size accommodates standard branch-circuit wiring configurations. The 100 foot roll length supports longer conduit runs or multiple shorter drops from a single package, reducing waste on larger jobs.
Designed for use with standard 1/2 inch conduit connectors and device boxes per NEC Article 350 requirements. Suitable for typical flexible metal conduit applications in residential and commercial electrical systems.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 350 and applicable local codes. De-energize all circuits and verify absence of voltage before beginning work. Use listed FMC fittings rated for the conduit trade size; secure the conduit at intervals required by the NEC to prevent sagging or mechanical damage. Avoid bending the conduit beyond the minimum bend radius, as overbending can deform the interlocked armor and restrict conductor pull.
