The SOUTHWIRE 55048255 is a 14 AWG NM-B building wire rated at 15 amps and 600 volts, supplied in a 250-foot length. The conductors are stranded copper with PVC insulation and a nylon jacket in white. This wire is designed for use in residential and light commercial branch circuit wiring and is installed inside conduit or routed through framing as permitted by the NEC. With a maximum operating temperature of 194 degrees F, it handles typical interior environments without derating. Licensed electricians install this wire during rough-in for lighting and receptacle circuits.
This NM-B wire is suited for residential interior wiring applications where non-metallic sheathed cable is code-permitted. The 4-conductor configuration supports multi-wire branch circuits or applications requiring additional current-carrying or grounding conductors. The white nylon jacket aids in circuit identification. At 250 feet per roll, it covers most single-room or multi-room rough-in runs without splicing. The stranded core offers flexibility during routing through framing bays and around obstructions compared to solid core alternatives.
Designed as an NM-B type replacement or new-install wire for residential and light commercial interior branch circuits where NEC Article 334 permits non-metallic sheathed cable.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit at the panel before terminating or splicing. NM-B cable is not rated for wet or damp locations, outdoor exposure, or embedment in concrete. Secure and support the cable at intervals required by NEC Article 334 to prevent damage and ensure a code-compliant installation.
