The SOUTHWIRE 23212401 is a THHN/THWN-rated building wire designed for use in general-purpose electrical wiring applications. This 12 AWG stranded copper conductor features 19 strands for flexibility and is rated at 20 amps and 600 volts. A nylon jacket over thermoplastic insulation provides resistance to abrasion, heat, moisture, oil, and gasoline. The wire is colored purple for easy circuit identification. It is supplied on a 500-foot spool and is typically installed by licensed electricians in residential, commercial, and light industrial settings.
This wire is well suited for branch circuit wiring in conduit or raceways where THHN or THWN conductors are specified. The dual THHN/THWN rating covers both dry and wet location installations, expanding its range of use in exposed or damp environments. The stranded 19-strand construction makes it easier to pull through conduit compared to solid wire, especially in longer runs or around bends. It is a standard choice for panel feeds, circuit runs, and general building wiring where a 12 AWG conductor is required.
Designed as a standard THHN/THWN building wire suitable for use in conduit and raceway systems where 12 AWG single-conductor copper wiring is specified per NEC requirements.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before making any connections. This wire is rated for use in conduit or raceways and should not be used as open wiring unless the installation method is specifically permitted by the authority having jurisdiction. Verify conduit fill calculations before pulling wire to avoid conductor damage.
