The SOUTHWIRE 22979901 is a THHN/THWN-rated building wire designed for use in general-purpose electrical wiring applications across residential, commercial, and industrial installations. This wire is constructed with a stranded copper core made up of 19 individual strands at 10 AWG, giving it a 30-amp current-carrying capacity at 600 volts. The conductor is insulated with thermoplastic material and jacketed in nylon, with an orange outer color for easy identification in conduit runs. Each reel provides 500 feet of wire, making it suitable for branch circuit runs, feeder wiring, and panel connections. Licensed electricians install this wire in conduit in dry, damp, or wet locations.
This wire is suited for branch circuit and feeder wiring in conduit systems in residential and commercial construction, as well as light industrial settings. The dual THHN/THWN rating means it is approved for both dry and wet location conduit installations. The 500-foot length per reel supports longer home runs and reduces the need for mid-run splices. It is commonly pulled through EMT, rigid metal conduit, PVC conduit, or flexible conduit as required by the installation.
Designed for use as general-purpose THHN/THWN building wire pulled through conduit in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical systems where 10 AWG stranded copper conductors are required.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. Always de-energize the circuit and verify zero voltage with a meter before making any connections. Use a wire pulling lubricant rated for thermoplastic-insulated conductors when pulling through conduit to avoid jacket damage. Do not exceed the ampacity or conduit fill limits specified in NEC tables for this wire gauge and insulation type.
